Wooden Games

The Slyvanian Families have been a big hit since 1985 when Epoch first released the loveable plush toy woodland figures.  Each family is made up of animals such as mice, bears, hedgehogs, and beavers and are adorable in their own right.  Of course, half of the fun of the Slyvanian Families is collecting each of their different homes and accessories so that the figurines can be placed inside each piece in a lifelike manner.  Today many people still collect the toys that are ‘of the forest’ as the name denotes and new pieces continue to hit the market.

One of the newest pieces is the Sylvanian Families Caravan, which was released recently and has proven to be a huge hit for the modern Slyvanian mice family.  The caravan itself is a large white caravan that unfolds into a unique home on wheels.  The top of the caravan folds straight up to reveal two cots with pink pretty bedding for the children of the mice family.  The side of the caravan folds out into a full kitchen that Mrs. Mouse can use to prepare meals for the family.

While the kitchen may seem quite small, everything you can imagine has been built into the mini kitchenette including a stove, cupboards, sink, drawers, and even a cupboard that has a fold out ironing board with a little iron on top of it.  You can place tiny items into the cupboard or scribble on the chalkboard that sits on the side of the cupboard marking the date or perhaps the meal that you think the mice are having for dinner.  Add in a miniature kitchen clock and towel hanger and almost everything is contained in this tiny little kitchen.

The kitchen is not the only complex area of the Slyvanian families caravan as the actual body of the caravan is just as packed.  To the left and rear of the vehicle is a small bathroom complete with a sink, toilet, toilet paper of course, a tiny shelf, and shower area so that the mice family can keep clean on the road.  The ‘smiley’ license plate that can be seen on the rear of the vehicle is also a nice touch along with several bumper stickers that will bring a smile to your face to see.  The floor of the bathroom also has a suitable rug that contrasts the rugs of the living area well.

Located on the right, is the living area which contains a red sofa and a tiny chair.  Complete with a game area in the cupboard with checkers and a small table in the middle of the room for dinner and play, the living room can easily fit the entire mice family even though it is quite small.  All and all the Slyvanian Families caravan is a great thrilling buy for any collector or young child at only about forty pounds is a great steal.
